It is one of the most common types of motor connection used for different industrial applications to ensure smooth and reliable performance. In this specific type, the motor lead wires are connected in such a way that it creates a star or “Y” shape.
To maintain a star connection, you can either connect the start or finish ends of three windings together. Connect the ends of coils T4, T5, and T6 at a common point and leave the starting wires as leads.
In another way, connect the beginning winding T1, T2, and T3 at a common point called “neutral,” keeping the end wires for leads.

Delta connection is maintained by connecting the end of the first winding to the start of the second winding, connecting the end of the second winding to the start of the third winding, and finally, connecting the end of the third winding to the start of the first winding. - Connect phase A (T4) to the start of phase B (T2).
- Connect phase B (T5) to the start of phase C (T3).
- Now, connect the end of phase C (T6) to the beginning of phase A (T1).
You must understand that each phase is connected to two adjacent phases in the delta connection, making a closed circuit. Therefore, the line voltage and phase voltage are always the same in this connection type.
